Preparation
- Remove all debris from the gutter
- Sweep any standing water down the outlets
- If any other liner system is present, a gutter calculation should be carried out in order to ascertain that gutter capacity is maximised. It may be necessary to remove the existing liner.
- Clean the existing gutter by conventional means
- Ensure all outlets are cleaned back to full outlet capacity
- Any holes in the existing gutter >50mm in diameter or splits in the gutter should be repaired by way of fixing a galvanised steel plate
- Grind off all existing bolt threads ensuring the nut is left in place and a smooth level surface is achieved. If grinding is prohibited a resip saw can be used
- Mechanically fix Sharmans Fleecy Backed Joint Protection Strip using the specified Sharmans fixings. 2No fixings per strip in opposite sides
- If specified, mechanically fix Sharmans Outer Thimble to all outlets using the specified Sharmans fixings (click here for full fitting instructions)
- Mark roof sheets to show positions of outlets
- Remove existing fixings and flashings as required
- If not using moulded stop ends, cut angle blanks or template blanks (depending on the stop end situation) to full gutter profile
