Preparation

  • Remove all debris from the gutter
  • Sweep any standing water down the outlets
  • If any other liner system is present, a gutter calculation should be carried out in order to ascertain that gutter capacity is maximised. It may be necessary to remove the existing liner.
  • Clean the existing gutter by conventional means
  • Ensure all outlets are cleaned back to full outlet capacity
  • Any holes in the existing gutter >50mm in diameter or splits in the gutter should be repaired by way of fixing a galvanised steel plate
  • Grind off all existing bolt threads ensuring the nut is left in place and a smooth level surface is achieved. If grinding is prohibited a resip saw can be used
  • Mechanically fix Sharmans Fleecy Backed Joint Protection Strip using the specified Sharmans fixings. 2No fixings per strip in opposite sides

  • If specified, mechanically fix Sharmans Outer Thimble to all outlets using the specified Sharmans fixings (click here for full fitting instructions)
  • Mark roof sheets to show positions of outlets
  • Remove existing fixings and flashings as required
  • If not using moulded stop ends, cut angle blanks or template blanks (depending on the stop end situation) to full gutter profile
