Retail park units protected against leaks after full commercial roof refurbishment

Metal cladding experts, D. Evans Limited, were tasked with a commercial roof refurbishment which involved repairing the cut edge corrosion which had occurred on a retail park’s metal roof. Upon full site survey, delamination and micro checking of the roof sheet coating was also found to be presenting serious risk to the integrity of the roof substrate. Being 2,500 m² in area, D. Evans Limited turned to Sharmans for systems they have been putting their trust and confidence in for 20 years: Seamsil for Cut Edge Corrosion and the Delcote Architectural roof coating system.

The contract time period and minimising building disruption were two critical factors in the successful completion of this project.  The main advantages of re-coating rather than over-sheeting the existing cladding was that whole process cost less, took less time and didn’t require shop closures – a retailers worst nightmare! Sharmans were able to support the contractor on site with advice on an existing cut edge corrosion treatment which had been applied to sections of the overlaps. These areas had to be checked and repaired as necessary before the Delcote roof coating system was applied. We also provided timely inspection audits and project sign off. This enabled efficient system application and deadlines to be met so scaffolding could be dismantled and site equipment removed on time.
