Plygene Gutterline breathes new life into Fortec’s leaky roof
The Fortec Distribution Network was established in 1996 and is now one of the leading pallet networks in the UK and Ireland. It is part of global logistics group Geodis which operates in 120 countries and has a workforce of 30,000.
When multiple leaks in the roof of their busy distribution hub in Daventry were threatening to make the space unusable, main contractor, Quantum Construction was called in to help. They specified Plygene Gutterline as part of a complete roof refurbishment project. Plygene Gutterline offers a bespoke solution with minimal building disruption and is an effective alternative to full gutter replacement. The system has been designed to meet the challenges of all commercial gutter environments, whatever their configuration and complexity.
Swift Roofing Services carried out the work on the 6000 sq metre asbestos roof which has had a full overclad and new, increased capacity gutter liners thanks to Sharman’s expertise in calculating gutter capacities which cope with modern weather trends.
Sharmans bespoke moulded units are a key component of the system. Prefabrication of the units significantly reduced the substrate preparation works required and installation time. They are mechanically fixed and welded to the system liner to eliminate the risk of water ingress and because they are designed to move independently of the substrate, they are not susceptible to splitting through thermal movement as can be the case with bonded membranes.
Providing a 25 year guarantee, Plygene Gutterline is the only BBA approved gutter lining system specifically engineered to restore and preserve gutter performance for industrial and commercial buildings.
Quantum Site Manager, Navdeep Semra said: “The refurbishment has avoided the need for a full roof replacement whilst extending the life of the roof by at least 25 years.”
