Bespoke moulded discharge flange (MWDF)
The liner should be pinned and fixed prior to hot air welding of the discharge flange.
Fixings specification engineered for gutter substrate type
Substrate | Product Code | Pilot hole (if required) | Drill speed |
STEEL < 3mm | HDS-LS-30 | N/A | 0-2000rpm – Can be full speed |
STEEL > 3mm | HDS-HS-40 | N/A | 0-2000rpm – Can be full speed |
CONCRETE | HDS-CON-45 | 5mm Diameter | 0-950rpm – Typically 750Watt |
ASBESTOS | HDS-ASB-38 | 9.5mm Diameter | Set to lowest speed |
Remember, when drilling holes in highly bonded materials, like asbestos cement, always refer to the current health & safety guide.
As illustrated, this typical example includes four fixings without washers but the ‘200 rule’ should be used to determine how many fixings are required within the pinning region.
The 200 rule
In the pinning region, the permitted maximum gap between fixings is 200mm.
So, a 300mm gap between fixings should be bisected at 150mm (needing one additional fixing) and a 600mm gap would require two extra fixings (one at 200mm and one at 400mm).
